On An Island

1–2 minutes

For most churches here in SC who wanted to separate from the United Methodist denomination, that painful process is behind us. Much healing has taken place. Many of our churches have experienced renewal and revival. God has been and is being glorified and I am so very grateful.

That, however, is not the story of every church.

Nearly 70 former UMCs here in SC are — as of this moment — being sued by the denomination.

Yes, you read that right. Sued.

These churches, citing broken promises and betrayal, are hurting. They had been told, “If you stay in the UMC nothing is going to change.” But in November 2024 things changed. And these churches suddenly found themselves trapped in a denomination that was no longer the denomination they had loyally supported for years.

[Typing those words moved me to tears. And moved me to pray.]

Please know that if your church is trying to get out, we of The Forged Network here in SC are here for you. To listen. To encourage. To pray. To assist in any way we can.

What is The Forged Network? It’s a group of former UMCs that did not feel led to join another denomination. But we also did not want to be on an island by ourselves. So we’ve networked ourselves together for connection, encouragement, accountability, and greater impact for the Kingdom of God.

If you know of a church here in SC that might possibly benefit from being a part of The Forged Network, please share this post with them.

Out on an island alone is not always a good place to be.

Blessings!
